PROJECT 1 - 'Research'





You should complete this research project and bring it with you on the first day of summer school (Monday 24th August). One of your first sessions will be to create a 'Mood Board', which will form the basis of the week ahead. Don't worry if you don't know what a mood board is, you will be taught how to create one at summer school!






Africa is a beautiful and wild place. Your task is to research into Africa and prepare a mini presentation using either PowerPoint, word OR another format you feel comfortable with!

Your project may want to include:

1. Geography facts


2. Some general facts about Africa


3. An example of either art, literature or music from Africa


4. Anything else you think is interesting

Tip: You may want to check out some holiday brochures to help you with the Geography side and they also have some lovely pictures!

Idea: You may want to create a scrap book?

Welcome to Summer School @ KLS

If you are reading this blog then you have been accepted onto the Gifted and Talented summer school at Kings Langley School, we hope that you enjoy the experience!


This years theme is called 'Plains of Imagination' and you will be working on creative ideas based around the award winning musical 'The Lion King'. The week will include a trip to see the show, and arts based projects around what you see on the stage.



In your application form, you will have specified a particular talent you have in the arts (perhaps you can sing or play an instrument, paint and draw or even dance). Well you will be given an opportunity to showcase that talent throughout the week in the various workshops we have prepared for you.



In order to be fully prepared for the week, you will be required to do a little bit of research in readiness for the first session on Monday 24th August 2009 ... so when you are ready to do this, please read PROJECT 1 on the blog!



Finally, please could we ask you all to bring with you on the first day an empty shoebox? It will all become clear once you get here ....
