Introducing Group Mufasa!

Introduction

Our group is called Mufasa. In our group, we have Ross, our group leader, Sophie, Francesca, Hayden, Leah and myself, Becky. During the week, we have done a range of activities based on Africa. We have all experienced new things, some that we have enjoyed and others that we were not so strong at. Our confidence has grown dramatically, as an individual and as a group.

Throughout the week, we have bonded with people inside and outside of the group and also challenged ourselves at things that we thought we were not able to do, therefore we will come back to school in September with new skills. We would like to present to you the work that we have completed this week. This includes our mood board, on Africa, our set design and our play. Our first piece of work is our mood board.

Mood Board Speech

On Monday, one of our tasks was to make a mood board based on what we thought reminded us of Africa. We include lots of pictures, brought in from home, some information and various colours as we thought of Africa, when we saw the pictures. We had a wide range of pictures including animals, landscapes, people, culture and colours. It also contains a fact file listing general information about the continent. We have a map of Africa as well as pieces of information about things like animals, rivers and disease. The background of our mood board is animal patterned tissue paper. This represents some of the animals that could be found around Africa. Next we will talk about our set design.

Speech for set

In our set we put food for the animals because in our play the giraffe and elephant are eating.
We also put bones made out of polystyrene to represent starving animals and the death of our two animals that were killed by the mufasa tribe.

We added glitter to our scene to show the sand on the plains of Africa because we wanted to give the effect off the bright sun reflecting off the golden sands.

We decided to add rocks to show part off their habitat. These can be used for lions to lounge on but also for animals to shelter in the shade off the rocks due to the hot weather.
We added an oasis because the play involves the elephant drinking out of it and this is what would also be found in Africa.

In our set we have straw to represent the dry long grass where the mufasa tribe are hiding waiting to attack the giraffe and the elephant.

Our whole set ties in with the theme off Africa and off the lion king witch also gave us the inspiration to create our set we felt that creating this set fit in with are play as other wise setting our play in the artic with not work with are script.
